How to Get Ready for a Casting Call

How to Get Ready for a Casting Call

An audition is a performance by a dancer, singer, musician, or actor to show what they can do. It usually involves the performer doing a solo piece that they have memorised and practised or playing a piece of music or a work that was given to them at the audition or just before. We will talk about some ideas for how to hold acting auditions.

SOME GUIDELINES FOR GIVING BETTER AUDITIONS

If you are asked to sing or give a monologue, make sure you are ready. Test out your choice by reciting it from memory.

Laugh and be nice to everyone. Remember that the moment you walk in the door is the beginning of your audition for every show. Even if you do a great job in the audition room, if you are rude or do something else wrong in the lobby, it will be remembered.

Get to your appointment on time. Please arrive 15 minutes early to make sure that your paperwork is done before you go in for your auditions. If you get there early, you have more time to relax, focus, and not feel rushed.

Be well dressed. Actors must always come to Stages Theatre Company in clothes that allow them to move. This means that your clothes should be neat, clean, and attractive, but they should also be comfortable and not make it hard for you to move around. (Please don’t wear high heels, boots, flip-flops, etc. You must wear shoes that are strong and won’t fall off. Dance shoes are suitable).

Use the time you have to wait to your advantage. At an audition, it’s great to see old friends and meet new ones, but you should also give yourself some time to focus on your performance.

Avoid looking at the filmmakers. Unless told otherwise, don’t look directly at the people you are auditioning for while you are doing your audition.

Tell me about yourself. As soon as you enter the audition room, please introduce yourself and play your prepared piece. This makes a good first impression.

It’s okay to feel worried, so don’t worry if you’re worried. Almost everyone worries. Do your best to laugh and have fun.

Things go wrong. If you make a mistake, don’t apologise. Keep in mind that some people might not even notice a mistake, but if you point it out to them, they will notice it right away.
